Melon 2024
$43.00 / 750 ml
Pouring a pale straw color – almost clear – with green flecks, this wine has notes of honeysuckle, fresh hay and melon rind, ccentuated by sea spray and stony minerality. On the palate, medium high, crisp acidity evokes wet stones and lemon peel, layered with flavors of white pear, tangerine and a touch of honey. The finish is crisp, dry, and lightly saline - inviting, refreshing and endlessly drinkable. Amazing with oysters and sunshine, but also a delight on its own, this easy drinking white wine is perfect for any occasion.

Alexander Valley
Winemaker Notes
The winemaking approach for Turks Head Wines' Alexander Valley Melon — crafted from the rare Melon de Bourgogne grape — is designed to balance freshness with subtle complexity. To capture the grape's vibrant fruit character and lively acidity, 20% of the wine is fermented in stainless steel tanks, a non-oxidative environment that preserves delicate aromatics and crispness. The remaining 80% is fermented and aged in neutral oak barrels. This deliberate choice avoids the overt influence of new wood, instead contributing a gentle softening of texture and a quiet layer of depth. The combination of stainless steel and used oak creates a wine that is bright and mineral-driven, yet rounded and nuanced on the palate.
