
Shipping Policies
Sommsation is a direct-to-consumer marketplace that works with wineries to ship their wine directly to your door. Wineries often default to standard shipping options; however, customers can request alternative shipping methods when available. Shipping times may fluctuate based on the winery and the wine’s final destination. Sommsation works closely with the wineries to monitor all orders and will communicate shipping updates and options if there are any delays in shipping.
Sommsation ships wines year-round by providing multiple options to ensure your wine arrives safely at its destination. We continually monitor seasonal temperatures during challenging months to offer the safest shipping options to our customers.
Wine is perishable and sensitive to extreme hot or cold temperatures, which can damage or affect the wine’s quality. At times, to keep their wine at the highest quality, wineries may hold ground shipments until temperatures are stable and within a suitable range for shipping the wine. A winery’s seasonal shipping options are always recommended to guard against weather holds during summer and winter. If you receive a weather hold notification, your wine may be held until it is safe to ship.
It is important to us that your wines are delivered with as little exposure to heat and cold as possible. We will always recommend the safest solution to ensure your wines arrive safely and that quality is intact. If options are provided, at any time, the customer has the right to choose their preferred method by contacting Concierge@sommsation.com, which may include upgrading to expedited delivery methods, adding cold packs, or temperature-controlled shipping. However, if a customer chooses to remove a weather hold and ship via standard ground vs our recommended methods, Sommsation is not liable for damages. Please note, that not all wineries use the same carriers or have the same options for hot or cold weather.
All alcohol sales are final. Sommsation will consider refund requests based on the status of your order. We do not offer refunds once the wine has shipped. Sommsation will work with the winery to offer alternative solutions to the customer when available.
