Typicité Wines was born from a handshake, a few tons of Pinot Noir, and a pair of 0% interest credit cards. Friends and winemakers Collin Cranor and Craig Ploof launched the project in 2017 as a creative outlet beyond their Cabernet-focused day jobs. What began as a small collaboration soon grew into a focused pursuit of crafting limited-production wines that honor the character of California’s most distinguished coastal vineyards. By working with thoughtfully chosen sites and keeping production intentionally small, Cranor and Ploof aim to highlight the nuance, purity, and elegance that define each vintage, while maintaining the spirit of collaboration that has guided the project from the very beginning.
Grape Culture was started in 2019 by the Cranor family, with the goal of producing single vineyard wines and showcasing the nuances those vineyards possess. The majority of Collin Cranor's wines at Grape Culture are single vineyard wines, and while his focus is on Cabernet Sauvignon, he also makes Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Cabernet Franc, and Merlot. All are very small production, most being comprised of just a few barrels, and all of his current releases are 350 or fewer cases. These tiny production wines embody the spirit of both the culture of the winery and the culture of Napa Valley as a whole - hard work, family, and camaraderie between farmers, producers, and wine lovers are prioritized.
