The Amista founders' journey into wine has been all about friends. They made their first wine in 1994, but said good-bye to their first vineyard in Saratoga, CA and set eyes on a beautiful property in Dry Creek Valley in 1999. In 2004 they officially established Amista Vineyards, Inc. Then in 2007 they opened the Amista Vineyards tasting room surrounded by estate Morningsong Vineyards planted to Chardonnay and Syrah. Today, they have a well established portfolio of Sparkling wines (launched in 2011), Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Grenache, Mourvèdre and Petite Sirah.
While Amista's entire lineup is impressive, in my opinion, their sparkling wines are the highlight. The unique Sparkling Syrah has been a long time favorite, as it will accompany a wide variety of occasions.
