Massimo, the owner and winemaker of Perluca, began his journey in Las Vegas, Nevada where his father crafted his first vintage using Syrah grapes from Santa Barbara County. Massimo observed, as his father ingeniously turned their garage into a makeshift winery, complete with a vertical press and a garden hose ingeniously repurposed to extract the wine for his first vintage. His father's dedication amidst such an unconventional setup taught Massimo an invaluable lesson: Pursue your passion relentlessly, regardless of the odds.
The Barbera is lively and expressive, opening with aromas of ripe cherry, plum, and violet. The palate is fruity and refined, driven by vibrant acidity and supple tannins, with notes of raspberry, strawberry, and subtle spice.
