Ladera Vineyards was started by Pat and Anne Stotesbery in 1998. They had been ranchers for over 20 years when they bought their first vineyard in 1996. While they knew their agricultural background would be a tremendous help with taking care of a vineyard, they didn't count on how quickly they'd fall under the spell of grape growing. They soon purchased another vineyard and started making wine, fully embracing their new lives as winery owners and vintners. Their production was focused on mountain grown Cabernet Sauvignon at the time, and the wines were quickly noticed, receiving high praise and acclaim for many of their releases. Today, they still make a number of excellent, well-made Cabernets, but now also produce Sauvignon Blanc and Chenin Blanc from Oak Knoll and Chardonnay and Pinot Noir from their estate vineyard in Russian River Valley.
