David and Ginny Adelsheim planted their first vineyard in 1971 - 19 acres just outside Newberg, Oregon. They started Adelsheim Vineyard a few years later, in 1978, with one dream: to create world-class wines in an undiscovered wine region, the Chehalem Mountains of Oregon’s Willamette Valley. They were, in fact, the first Chehalem Mountains winery, and since their founding they have obsessively pursued creating wines that celebrate the unique bounty of their estate vineyards, which are home to some of Oregon’s most diverse soil types, microclimates, and exposures. Today, they own 368 acres of land, with 174 of those acres planted to vines, and their vineyards are all unique from one another, varying in size, elevation, and soil makeup. Quality is their unwavering standard, and from the vineyard to the cellar, they blend tradition with innovation, continuously refining their craft. Each vintage offers a chance to push boundaries, explore new possibilities, and craft wines that are increasingly expressive and captivating.
The Syrah is stunning, with aromas and flavors of sun-warmed boysenberry, crushed violet, white pepper, and a subtle touch of cocoa. The palate is smooth and well-structured, balanced by bright acidity that promises graceful aging.
