Highlights
  • Varietal percentages: 100% Chardonnay
  • Vineyard(s): Morningsong Vineyards
  • Vineyard Notes: Morningsong Vineyards is our 20 acre estate vineyard located on the valley floor in the heart of Dry Creek Valley. Stretching from Dry Creek Road to the banks of Dry Creek, it is comprised of the loose, gravelly soils typical of the area, providing excellent drainage. Our proximity to the Russian River Valley means that the vineyards linger in the cool morning fog before the sun begins to warm them. There are seven acres of Chardonnay planted.

AMISTA VINEYARDS
Their 20-acre estate vineyard — they call it Morningsong Vineyards — is on the valley floor in the heart of Dry Creek Valley. When they don't grow their own, they acquire grapes from their neighbors — in Dry Creek Valley and Rockpile. They want to be able to walk the vineyards, taste the fruit and have a personal relationship with the people who grow the grapes.

Winemaking Highlights
The Chardonnay grapes were picked by hand starting at daybreak and hand sorted in the vineyard. From the vineyard the grapes went directly to the winery and into the press. The juice went straight from the press into neutral French oak barrels for a three-week fermentation. After fermentation, the barrels were topped up and left on primary lees for the duration of its life until bottling.
