The Story

Sustainability is one of Amavi's underlying values. Their estate vineyards — Les Collines, Seven Hills, Pepper Bridge, Octave, Goff, Stone Valley, and Summit View — are farmed sustainably. They build up the soil's health rather than deplete it and seek out earth-friendly alternatives to fertilizers, pesticides, and herbicides. They are committed to not only preserving but also improving the land for future generations. Some of the tangible steps they have taken to grow and produce their wines' sustainability are: solar panels, wastewater recycling, no herbicides or pesticides and all natural fertilizers. Every Fall falconers bring several predatory birds that work tirelessly to keep the invasive birds out of their vineyards. And since their 2014 vintage, they have not used capsules on any of their wine bottles, thereby eliminating thousands of pounds tin, aluminum, and other alloys from landfills.

The Values

The name Amavi (ah-mah-vee) was coined by combining the Latin words "amor + vita + vinum" (love, life, and wine). Amavi Cellars signifies love (amor), life (vita), and wine (vinum) through our wines, which are 100% estate, 100% Certified Sustainable, and 100% Walla Walla Valley. They are dedicated to producing estate wines that showcase the distinct personality of this region. Quality, hospitality and sustainability are their underlying values.
