ALTA ORSA
Alta Orsa is the story of land, the vision and labor of their small team — led by their winemaker Martin Bernal-Hafner. The core chapter of their story is centered on a holistic approach to farming. As stewards of this 160-acre mountain property, they tend to 12-acres of hillside vineyards with regenerative organic practices — treating their soils as a living ecosystem and nature as our partner. Patience, observation, science, and experimentation guide their approach. Since the planting of their high-density vineyard in the late 1980s, they have practiced no-till farming, minimal organic sprays, cover cropping, no tractors between the rows, and no herbicides under the vine. They sincerely believe this philosophy preserves the unique sense of place and leads to wines that are classic, elegant, and worth laying down.

Alta Orsa Hafner Vineyard Chardonnay 2023
Tasting Notes
It opens with a matchstick-like minerality—as if the stones from neighboring Sausal Creek were distilled into the glass, enhanced by a vibrant burst of grapefruit zest. On the palate, this Chardonnay unfolds with layers of delicate nutty creaminess reminiscent of a refined frangipane pastry - rich in texture yet never overly heavy. The finish is bright and mouth-watering, underpinned by the wine's impeccable balance that makes it an ideal partner for a variety of dishes.

Estate Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon 2020
Tasting Notes
Aromatically, it brings lively blackberry compote, bittersweet chocolate, and freshly brewed espresso. We suggest decanting or aerating if enjoying it soon. Its intense color translates onto the palate. It's a brooding and savory Cabernet Sauvignon with hints of dark chocolate and wet slate as it opens. It is both juicy and grippy – perfect for pairing with proteins.
