Leading with aromatics of red fruit and cardamom, this wine features soft, refined tannins. On the palate, red plum is accented with notes of berry tart, underscored by rich cocoa with an impression of violets, rounded out by an elegant finish.

Blackberry, tart cherry, and warm cassis waft from the glass, with notes of nutmeg and black pepper. This dense yet subtle wine has a well-rounded palate of huckleberry, red rope licorice candy, and cherry cola, with bitter chocolate, cinnamon, and a sweet tobacco finish. Time in French oak barrels served to balance this structured and energetic yet surprisingly soft wine. Atypically polished tannins and balanced acidity lead to a weighty, extended finish sure to stand the test of time.

Cabernet Sauvignon 2014

This elegant wine opens with aromas of dark-purple violets, followed by fresh red plums and dark-roast coffee. A subtle note of sweetness mixes with savory dried herbs, scorched earth, graphite, and Seavey's signature minerality. Soft, generous, and coating in the mouth, this wine has a presence that lifts and expands to an unexpectedly long finish. Winemaker Jim Duane's advice: "Be patient when you taste this wine and pay attention to the finish." This wine will get better and better over the next three decades, but it will also be very enjoyable in its earlier years.

About the Winery

Map Pin Icon Located in St. Helena, CA
Production from the estate's 40 planted acres is approximately 3,000 cases annually. This small-scale production allows them to maintain consistently high standards in both the vineyard and the winery. They've never bought a grape and they farm their land with their in-house crew. Stewarded by Jim Duane, their winemaker, and also Philippe Melka, their consulting winemaker. Seavey's goal is to create masterful, soulful wines that exude a sense of place and age gracefully.
