The Story

Since founding Whetstone Wine Cellars in 2002, Jamey Whetstone's vision has remained the same: to use vineyard-based winemaking to showcase beautiful California fruit in limited-production, single-vineyard, and single varietal wines. Jamey's approach to farming aims to strike balance and simplicity in the vineyard and to cultivate an elegant yet approachable style in every bottle of Whetstone wine.

The Values

The luxury for me has always been the vineyard work I was afforded the first 6 years I was in the business.The relationship between vineyard and winery is exactly the same as a marriage. So I am real thoughtful when engaging in this kind of commitment. Winemaking, for me, begins and ends in the vineyard. The cellar is icing on the cake and a chance to reflect on what you did/did not do well during the growing season.

At Whetstone we are acutely aware of the art of being present. It is an art form we practice with each bottle, tune, and conversation shared with our guests.
