The Story
Van Duzer Vineyards is proud to be certified by LIVE (Low Input Viticulture and Enology), an Oregon-based non-profit supporting environmentally and socially responsible winegrowing for 25 years. We were named ‘Heroes of Salmon' by Salmon Safe and certified through IOBC for sustainable pest control. Our vineyard manager, Bruce Sonnen, has dedicated his career to sustainable grape farming and serves as the Chair of LIVE Certified. Van Duzer has joined the National Fish and Wildlife Association and local conservationists at Baskett Slough National Wildlife Preserve to help restore the endangered Fender's Blue butterfly. This butterfly prefers upland prairie landscapes like those around our estate, which have nearly disappeared. Starting in 2008, we preserved a habitat for the butterfly among our Oregon white oak savanna. In 2023, Fender's Blue was downlisted from endangered to threatened—a significant conservation victory.
