Located only 25 miles from the cooling influence of the Pacific, this small region has a strong reputation for producing exceptional Rhone varietals due to the unique combination of large diurnal temperature variation, long growing season, and sandy loam soil (which once comprised the Pacific Ocean floor). Thompson Vineyard, the oldest vineyard within the Alisos Canyon AVA, is known for producing sustainably farmed, ultra-premium, complex, cool-climate Syrah on native rootstock.
