Experience Sommsation in Park City 2023
January 13, 2023

Sundance Film Festival returned to Park City this year, celebrating independent filmmakers and their works of art in-person for the first time in 3 years. Sommsation delightfully joined the festivities with our own premiere of the Sommsation Lounge - an intimate wine experience pop-up curated to sip, connect and celebrate with Sundance Festival attendees and wine lovers alike.
As a company who champions independent winemakers, we felt right at home on historic Main Street in Park City as we connected with numerous independent films and filmmakers. From press events and screening parties to happy hours and wine tastings, we offered a variety of unique experiences for guests to enjoy in an intimate and luxury environment.
"The Sundance community was a perfect setting to spotlight Sommsation, our winery partners, and sommeliers. We were able to create an authentic stage for our sommeliers to share our winery's stories and present their wines to a captivated audience through creative and engaging experiences." - Lauren Magee

The Sommsation Lounge premiered at the beloved Old Town Cellars. It became the place for festival goers to escape from the cold in a cozy environment, and relax over sommelier-led wine tastings throughout the weekend. We were delighted to host a Women in Film Panel led by Dawn Borchardt and closed out the weekend with a reception honoring the upcoming Mammoth Film Festival with a performance by Rain Phoenix.

“I loved the intimate atmosphere- really getting to have genuine interactions with people in a cool and comfortable space over amazing wines. It felt awesome to be the spot for people to kick back and enjoy some gold ole fashioned hospitality.” - Elyse Lovenworth, Lead Sommelier.
Some of our featured wines included selections from Alexana Winery and Halter Ranch. Celebrity guests frequented the lounge, including Phoebe Dynevor, Will Forte, Elizabeth Mitchell, Radha Mitchell, Zoey Deutch and more.

At the foot of Main Street, we joined the Zooz Cinema Centre as an exclusive wine experience partner, featuring limited production wines expertly paired with gourmet food catered by Marbl Toronto and Chef Ryan Morrison.

The Cinema Centre hosted a reception honoring Confluential Films, the award-winning Black-owned and Black-founded, film, television, and documentary production company and financier. Additionally, we sponsored press junkets for films featured at Sundance as well as an afterparty for the film The Starling Girl.
“What an amazing experience to be at the Cinema Centre with Sommsation, in the mix of talent and creativity at Sundance. The opportunity to engage with like-minded people over great wine, supporting and championing independent creators as Sommsation does, was both invigorating and inspiring!” - Amanda Nichols
