The Story

Carnival Wines are proudly produced in California by winemaker Shawn Phillip and founded by Bill and Kelly Axelrad. Our sparkling wines are vinified using traditional methods, made with sustainable grapes, and sourced from responsibly farmed vineyards from a diverse range of what the beautiful Sonoma county has to offer. Carnival is rooted in our history and reflects the heart and soul of New Orleans.

The Values

We believe luck is when preparation meets opportunity. Through hard work and cherished connections, we embraced a dream that combined our passions for wine, tradition, and celebration. Inspired by a friendship with winemakers who had lost their winery in the 2016 Tubbs Fire, we became the proud owners of 160 cases of Fountain Grove AVA 2016 Blanc De Blancs, later named "Neutral Ground" in homage to New Orleans' iconic neutral zones. Our shared vision came to life with a commissioned painting by artist Ned Cappel, capturing the essence of festivals, fun, and sparkling wine. Carnival Wine Co. was born, blending southern charm with the artistry of winemaking.
